Gulf States Children’s Ministry Training Event Empowers Leaders

Published on April 1, 2025

On March 29, 2025, children’s ministry leaders and Sabbath School teachers from across the Gulf States Conference gathered at the Conference Office in Montgomery, Alabama, for a dynamic training event. Hosted by the North American Division (NAD), this event aimed to equip ministry leaders with new tools and techniques to enhance their service to children and families in their local churches.

Attendees were inspired by engaging presentations and hands-on workshops led by Pastor Gerry Lopez, Associate Director of Children’s Ministries for the North American Division, along with his team of expert presenters. They provided invaluable insights on bringing the new Sabbath School curriculum to life for Kindergarten and Primary classes, mastering interactive storytelling, and teaching the 28 Fundamental Beliefs in engaging and age-appropriate ways.

One of the highlights of the training was an exciting preview of the upcoming Vacation Bible School (VBS) program titled Mountain of Miracles – God’s Love is Rock Solid! This new VBS curriculum is designed to immerse children in biblical truths through captivating stories and interactive activities.

Pastor Gerry Lopez emphasized the importance of equipping leaders with practical tools, saying, “When we make Sabbath School engaging and vibrant, we not only teach our children about Jesus, but we also plant seeds of faith that will last a lifetime.”

Elizabeth Rodriguez, Associate Director for the Youth Department of the Gulf States Conference, expressed her enthusiasm about the event: “It was truly empowering to see our leaders come together and gain new skills to serve our children better. We are committed to fostering environments where young hearts can experience God’s love in meaningful ways.”

Participants left the training motivated and equipped to return to their churches and implement the innovative ideas shared during the event. The Gulf States Conference looks forward to seeing the positive impact this training will have on local children’s ministries throughout the region.
