The Gulf States Conference (GSC) has been ministering to youth through Pathfinders, Camp Alamisco, and youth rallies for many years. Now, with the addition of YAM, the opportunities for ministering to young people has doubled! This new ministry of GSC began at the start of 2016 with a retreat at Camp Alamisco. The retreat’s purpose was to bring together young adults for a sort of brainstorming session, to share ideas of what programming could be offered and to learn the spiritual needs of young adults. The vision for this ministry is that it will grow at the local church level, connecting young adults with a church community right where they are. He hopes that YAM will create an environment for young adults to develop an authentic relationship with Jesus Christ. And lastly, to provide resources to young adults for outreach to others their age, as well as resources valuable for life skills.

Get Involved – Retreats

The Young Adult Ministries Department of the Gulf States Conference presents 2 retreats per year for collegiate age youth: one in the spring, and one in the fall. These retreats are geared to ages 18-35. Whether you’re single, married, or have small children, we want all young adults to feel welcome! The purpose of these retreats is to bring together young adults from around the Conference to exchange ideas for outreach and young adult programming, and to encourage each other. The laid-back atmosphere of our fall retreat is designed to be a respite from life’s busyness and to encourage spiritual renewal. Our spring retreat is more active, beginning Friday morning with canoeing, water skiing, horseback riding, and more, before settling down for a spiritually rich Sabbath. Welcome to the spring retreat for young adults! Our theme this year is Refresh! It is a time to be renewed, reawakened and to take some time off in nature to pray and spend time with God. We are excited about what’s in store for you this weekend. Let’s embrace a life of community, service and growth as we develop a vibrant walk with Jesus.
